13. Location Data and Nearby Services
To help you discover Kaze-enabled merchants, agents, and services closest to you, the app may request access to your device's location. Here is exactly how we handle that data:
- How we ask: When you first open a feature that benefits from your location (such as “Find nearby services”), the app will display a clear permission prompt explaining why the access is needed. You must explicitly tap Allow before any location data is collected.
- What we collect: We collect your approximate or precise GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) only while you are actively using the nearby-services feature, unless you grant background location access.
- How we use it: Your coordinates are used solely to rank and display Kaze-enabled merchants and payment agents near your current position. We do not build a history of your movements or use location data for advertising profiling.
- Who sees it: Location data is processed on our servers to compute proximity results. It is not sold or shared with third parties except where required to operate the service (e.g., mapping providers), who are bound by strict data-processing agreements.
- Retention: Individual location queries are discarded after the nearby-services result is returned. We may retain aggregated, anonymized location statistics (e.g., “most requested city”) to improve service coverage.
- Your control: You can withdraw location permission at any time through your device's app settings (Settings → Kaze → Location → Never). Revoking this permission only disables the nearby-services feature; all other Kaze functionality continues to work normally.
14. App-Specific Permissions and Access
The Kaze app requires certain permissions to function effectively:
- Camera: To scan QR codes for initiating payments or wallet interactions.
- Location: To show you nearby Kaze-enabled merchants and payment agents (see Section 13 for full details). Permission is requested only when you use the nearby-services feature.
- Internet Connection: To process transactions and communicate with payment networks.
- Storage: To store transaction history locally on your device or on our servers depending on your account type.
15. Definitions
- Custodial Account: A wallet managed by Kaze or its designated service providers, where we hold and manage the private keys and funds on your behalf.
- Self-Custody Account: A wallet where you retain sole control over the private keys and associated recovery materials, with no access or control by Kaze.
- Payment Network: The infrastructure used to process and settle transactions within the Kaze platform.
- Personal Information: Any information that identifies or can reasonably identify you as an individual.
16. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The latest version will always be available on the Kaze website. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice via the app, website, or email.
